Below is a 2008 report on the activities of a Shamlicht Kids Club nest.  A nest is its
smallest group, usually with five to 10 members.  Some of these reports were made
before the end of the year, so may be incomplete.

Purple Ferret's Nest

We're happy to be the first true nest in Shamlicht
Kids Club (Nest of Pink Vipers was formed earlier
as part of Shamlicht Girls, and Bluebeard's Nest was earlier part of Shamlicht
Boys, but ours was the first formed specifically for the SKC).  As our nest is in the
area where Reverend Loveshade had es vision that led to the evolving book
Ek-sen-trik-kuh Discordia: The Tales of Shamlicht, our little group is part of the
bigger group called Napping Birch Tree (the actual tree is where Loveshade had
es dream vision).  Napping Birch Tree is in the larger group we call Astronut
Grove, which is a part of Forest USA.

Our club had fun as one of the very first groups to make an Erister Egg Hunt at the
end of March.  If you don't know the background, Sacred Chao Ranch Cabal first
hid plastic eggs with surprising fortunes inside around Easter 1997.  This was a
one-time event until Pinky McFatfat revived the idea in 2008.  It was named by
Mythics of Harmonia, although Professor Cramulus of Black Iron Prison calls it
EggGASM.  We thought Erister Egg Hunt would be a better name for the kids.  In
each colored plastic egg we put a Discordian saying and a small toy, such as a
yoyo or top.  We hid a number of eggs in a City Park and, at member Koko Kitty's
suggestion, we also hid some at a Pagan ceremony which most of attended. The
Pagans thought it was a lot of fun, but we didn't learn how the people at the city
park liked it!

In April we participated in a jake on gogoddess.com.  They feature seven
goddesses and let teen and preteen girls take a short quiz to see which Goddess
they are most like.  We suggested they add Discordia/Eris to the list.  Several
other people sent in their own emails.

At the beginning of May we had a small ceremony for Beltaine.  All members
participated, and Mounty Zebra, who is considering being a nestler, served as our
host.  We have some other kids who might join our group, which is great, although
we are very happy with our current and wonderful members.

Our nestlers (leaders) are Shamlicht AL and Minima, and our nestlings (members)
are Koko Kitty, Rosey Tiger, Harry Monkey, Joe Monkeyshines, Bumper Bunny
(charter members), and Faunrise, Ram, and Slick Pigeon (who joined in May).  It
wasn't required, but all our kids named themselves after their favorite animal.

We have some new merit badge earners!  We won't mention them all, but a couple
deserve special mention here.  One of Bumper Bunny's drawings was selected for
a card in the
Ek-sen-trik Discordia deck for 1000 Blank White Cards, so Bumper
earned a 1KBWC merit badge.  And we're proud of Rosey Tiger, who just earned a
merit badge for Puberty.  Some "women by nature" had a womanhood ceremony
for Rosey, which was largely based on ideas from Princess Unicornia of the
Mythics of Harmonia.  We are personists and not sexist or ageist, but we respected
and supported Rosey's wishes to celebrate womanhood with just women.

We didn't get to have our camping trip, but we did have a swim party and a trip to
the zoo in June, and later a Trash Day to pick up trash in our area.  We also
shared in several ceremonies with a nature-based group.  We believe that
Discordianism is more than just a joke, and that we can really do our part to help
the world.  But to keep with our theme, we plan to tell anyone who commends the
kids for cleaning up the environment that Eris wants us to.

Yours in Shamlichtal Discordia,

Minima and Shamlicht AL
