| Discordian Division of the Ek-sen-triks CluborGuild Snooze Letter January - February 2009 The "Sites, Publications and Award Groups (SPAG)" Issue discordia.loveshade.org This being the "Sites, Publications and Award Groups (SPAG)" Issue, in which we tell you how to find and submit to Intermittens, help gather Discordian works where we can all find them, brag shamelessly about our popularity, revive a great old Discordian site, declare war on The War on Discord, and expose new members of the Prestigious Order of the Pineapple. 27th ANNUAL ORDER OF THE PINEAPPLE AWARD The members of the Order of the Pineapple (also know as the Pineapple DisOrder) have chosen two honorees for the prestigious order (sometimes known as the DisOrder of the Pineapple). This award is always given on Pat Pineapple Day, January 18, and is for exceptional contributions of extreme discord and eccentricity in service to the Ek-sen-triks CluborGuild and/or the Discordian Division of the Ek-sen-triks CluborGuild. The first award was given in 1982 on Jan. 18, which is Pat Pineapple Day and synchronistically the birthday of Robert Anton Wilson. Pat Pineapple is the mascot of the ECG and Patron Saint of the D & D of the ECG. Winners can put O.P. after their holy/member names, or mundane names if they really want to. This year's winners are both surprises: Steve Jackson and Reverend Loveshade. Steve Jackson is a rare honoree as e was not a member of the ECG nor is e a member of the D & D of the ECG. But es company, Steve Jackson Games, published the most-circulated version of Principia Discordia under Steve's direction. Steve was the prime promoter for making the Apocrypha Discordia sequel (which was actually compiled independently by Rev. DrJon Swabey), created the Illuminati card game, encouraged the development of several Discordian/Illuminati projects, and spoke of the Men in Black before they became the topic of a movie. Upon winning the award, Steve said, "Thank you very much for the bromeliadic honor! To the ranks of flaxscrip and hempscrip we can now add pineapplescrip . . ." For those who don't know, a pineapple is a bromeliadic fruit. The term is occasionally used in SCA heraldry, and Steve used to be active as an SCA baron. Reverend Loveshade is a surprise because Order members assumed e had already been honored! The Rev is founder and episkopos of the Discordian Division of the Ek-sen-triks CluborGuild and editor of Ek-sen-trik-kuh Discordia: The Tales of Shamlicht. But because of es tremendous modesty (right), we're limiting further descriptions here (see our site for more than you'll want to know about Reverend Loveshade). Upon winning the award, The Rev. said, "Cool! Now I've been pineappled. And I didn't have to wait 25 years to get it." (Zeus, co-founder and founding president of the Ek-sen-triks CluborGuild, was finally made a member of the O.P. in the award's 25th year. Revy Love founded the D & D of the ECG 15 years ago). WE'RE IN THE TOP ONE PERCENT FOR 2008 Our parent site, www.loveshade.org, which of course includes us, was ranked in the 1 percent most visited websites for every month of 2008! That comes from Quantcast.com, and is based on unique U. S. visits (they plan to start counting out-of-America visits some day). We haven't paid a penny to advertise our site (outside of our own site, of course), and we're well out of the mainstream. So we're pleasantly surprised! For December, we were ranked as number 51,956 out of over 2,000,000 websites (there's actually over 9,000,000 registered domains out there, but many of them aren't up). Obviously, we wouldn't have gotten there if not for you! Thanks for visiting, come back often, and tell your friends! ILLUMINATUS INNER SANCTUM REVIVAL The Illuminatus Inner Sanctum Revival is on! The site first went up March 18,2000 or March 19, 2000, depending on your time zone. It was one of the most active Discordian sites on the Internet. Then, around the time of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack on the United States, it started to fade. (For those who don't know, some of the members there got caught up in investigations, some even arrested. Out of over a dozen charges brought against various people, the only one that stuck was for marijuana possession--see Adam Newton's interview at discordia.loveshade.org/xtra/interviewan, especially part 3, for more on the investigations). Well there's now a revivial at the great site, which used to be an active gathering spot for some great Discordians, some of whom went on to produce various Discordian works. See it and join up (all you need is a free Yahoo account--you probably have one already) at groups.yahoo.com/group/illuminatusinnersanctum. You can also submit stuff for Intermittens there! INTERMITTENS Speaking of Intermittens, the second issue is out, and so is the second version of the first issue! The first issue of Intermittens edited by Professor Cramulus has been reformatted by Telarus, KSC, and the second issue edited by Vexati0n is now available. The second issue's theme is The Elements of New Discordia, and it is well worth reading. We won't mention this great magazine every month, but you can keep updated by checking our Intermittens page at discordia.loveshade.org/xtra/intermittens.html. Go there to download existing issues, and to learn how to submit to upcoming issues. Issue Three (the Weirdness issue being edited by Rev. The Mary is Patron Saint of Bearers of Erisian Tattoos; displays our Holy Symbol, the Sacred Chao with Killiifish on es belly; and is a Divinely Revered Object of Obscene Lust. Princess Unicornia wants everyone to know e will soon be old enough to drink and drive. Not at the same time, of course. THE WAR ON DISCORD Yes, most of us American spags are very happy to see George W. Bush retire, and to see Barack Obama step in as America's president.
